Enjoy a Taste of Hawai‘i at Its Many Food Festivals
The Hawaiian Islands feature world-class culinary events year-round. Our food festivals range from celebrations of cuisine, wine and local-grown ingredients to fêtes spotlighting regional coffee, cacao and chocolate, kalo (taro) and agriculture, and even multicultural gatherings. Encourage your clients to indulge in Hawai‘i’s unique flavors by connecting with each island’s community, culture and aloha spirit through food and drink. Bon appétit!
Kaua‘i
Encourage clients visiting Kaua‘i this fall to celebrate all things local chocolate and coffee at the annual Kauaʻi Chocolate and Coffee Festival (Oct. 20). The popular island event spotlights product presentations and demos, live entertainment, specialty vendors, local crafts, a silent auction and, of course, lots of chocolate and coffee tastings. Held at Kilohana Plantation’s lū‘au pavilion in Līhu'e, the Kauaʻi Chocolate and Coffee Festival highlights all the attributes of these two favorite local crops. Tickets will be available in advance online and at the door.
O‘ahu
At the annual Joy of Sake (Oct. 25), clients will enjoy unlimited samplings of hundreds of sake labels paired with outstanding cuisine from local chefs. Sake is a celebrated spirit in Hawaiʻi, as the art of sake making was brought to the Islands by Japanese immigrant plantation workers. Attendees must be 21 or older. Clients can also indulge in culinary delights at the annual Hawaiʻi Food & Wine Festival (Nov. 6-10). As Hawai‘i’s largest culinary event, the multi-island celebration concludes on Oʻahu. It highlights 150+ world-renowned master chefs, culinary personalities, winemakers and mixologists to deliver a unique taste of the Islands through food and drink using local ingredients. The event also features grand tastings, wine dinners, keiki (kids) cooking classes, wine seminars and more. Proceeds benefit nonprofit culinary, agricultural and community organizations statewide.
Maui Nui
While the royal pageantry, parades, concerts and family activities are the main attraction at the Festivals of Aloha (Sept. 4 – Oct. 28), some of the events will feature tasty local foods from across Maui, Lāna‘i and Moloka‘i. Since the event spans multiple venues, clients can island hop to experience the best of the fest. Visit their website for more info about their street parties and other events that’ll feature tasty eats! The excitement continues throughout the fall with the Hawaiian Airlines Made in Maui County Festival (Nov. 1-2). The event showcases products made by each of the island’s residents and producer communities, including creative food and crafts.
Hawai‘i Island
The Mauna Lani Culinary Classic (Aug. 29 – Sept. 2) showcases local-grown and -raised ingredients. The food event is led by notable Hawai‘i and global chefs, sommeliers and drink experts and kicks off with a chef-centered lūʻau. The signature events include a 17-course omakase dinner, The Blue Ribbon Experience, a surfside Chefs On the Beach bash, and the multicourse Culinary Classic Dinner at Mauna Lani resort’s CanoeHouse restaurant. Later in the fall (Nov. 1-10), clients can attend the 53rd Kona Coffee Cultural Festival. Hawaiʻi’s longest-running food festival celebrates the growers, roasters, purveyors and rich culture and history of the Kona Coast’s world-famous coffee bean. The fest includes coffee tastings, farm tours, a recipe contest, live entertainment, an artisan market, an evening town parade and ho‘olaule‘a (celebration) and more.
